The Wrapp - Crumbling cookies, swamp brawlin' and cosy crime

Happy Friday and welcome back to The Wrapp, where we talk about our gaming plans for the next few days. This week, Cookie Run: Crumble has taken over a bit, with Catherine, Iwan and Dann all getting involved. It hasn't grabbed everyone, though, with Will and Shaun very much doing their own thing.

I’m back! Did you miss me? After a long absence these past ten days whilst I was on holiday, it seems there’s plenty of exciting stuff happening in the world of mobile. CookieRun: Crumble for one, which is our latest big focus, as Devsisters have been pushing a lot of new spinoffs out the door for their ever-growing fanbase.

Personally, though, what I found most interesting while I was away was that in Denmark I spotted the Clash of Clans board game out in the wild! Not to mention the Valheim tabletop adaptation too. There’s something to be said for cultural differences for sure, and I might just do that in the near future…

Okay, I was at a loss for what to do because there are so many new releases (not all of them look amazing). We got some cool ones coming off the heels of our podcast episode, but I think Eterspire is the one that jumps out the hardest at me, especially because it's NOT Runescape. But there are others scrabbling around, and I've been struggling to catch one with my attention, and that's why we need the help of our fellow Pocket Gamers!

Thanks to Cat, I'm reminded that Netflix Minigolf is a thing and they've added a bunch of Squid Game and Stranger Things themes to their courses. This'll make a nice crossover universe to hit colourful balls around.

Well, for the first time in a long time I’ll be spending my time with new releases. CookieRun: Crumble (check out our tier list) was our big release for this week, so a handful of us have been playing through it to get to grips with it. I’ve also downloaded Afterglow, as that sounds like an interesting offering.

Outside of this, the new Pokémon TCG Pocket pack has been released. I’m only missing four cards (all EX, of course) from previous packs, so if I can annihilate the Rayquaza pack then I can get back to trying to pick those up. I’ve almost made up for the fact that I took a couple of months off last year now. In other news, I’ll also be out for Pokémon Go over the weekend; there’s a handful of events. Most importantly, though, my local group are throwing a Golden Lure picnic, which is always a great time.

We’ve all been bitten by the CookieRun: Crumble bug this week, so I suspect a lot of folks over here at PG Towers will spend their weekends trying to earn enough money for a plump chocolate king because they “accidentally” damaged the castle walls. 

Beyond that, I’m looking to get into Case Solved: The London Files for a review - if I can get my access to work, that is. Perhaps that’s part of the very meta case I’m already supposed to solve?

I have never in my life picked up Brawlhalla, never even had an inkling to do so. It looks fun and has a Norse name, but I always let it pass on by. However, now that they have released a Shrek collaboration, I will be diving into that. I am not sold on the art style for the characters, but the first two films are classics for good reason. Playing as Puss in Boots could be appealing; I like the feline Zoro, but who could pass up recreating that fight scene between Shrek and the guards in the original?

While I too have dabbled somewhat in CookieRun: Crumble, I believe I've already had my fill. It's lovely and colourful, but I've never been the sort of person to play a live service for all that long. Besides, playing it just makes me hungry for all those sweet treats we shouldn't really eat.

Instead, I'm going to dive into Pokémon TCG Pocket's new expansion. Specifically, I'm going to use my stockpile of Pack Hourglasses to see if I can pull a Mega Sharpedo ex or two. It's a Pokémon I've always liked but never spent much time with, so building a deck around it seems like a nice way to rectify that.
