Road Redemption Mobile, the spiritual successor to the legendary Road Rash, has released only after being announced two weeks back. We have been playing it since launch and have prepared a guide for Road Redemption Mobile to help out newcomers. We will not only cover the basics but also share some tips to help you win races easily.

Road Redemption Mobile is free to download, but after a few races, you will have to make a one-time in-app purchase to unlock the full game. On the bright side, it lets you relive the good old days. So if you have decided to give it a go, here are some tips and tricks that will come in handy.

Tip #1 - Choosing the proper control set-up

Controls are the most crucial part of the game. Having the proper control set-up will make winning races easier. There are three options for steering - joystick, tilt and button. I highly recommend using buttons as you get separate buttons for nitrous, braking and steering right or left. The acceleration in all cases is automatic. In combat style, you can choose buttons or swipe, whichever suits you more.

Tip #2 - Turn on the auto handbrake

The gameplay is quite weird. You will find yourself running just fine, and suddenly, as the road turns left, you will find yourself over the mountain because you won't be able to turn even if you keep pressing the steering button. So, an auto handbrake is the only thing that can keep you on the road, so make sure to turn it on in the settings.

You can turn on the auto handbrake by following these steps:

  • Go to the options
  • Go to steering
  • Turn on the auto hand brake option

Tip #3 - Attacking enemies

While racing, you want to knock other riders. Mostly because it's fun and also because it gives you more health and a speed boost. Attacking enemies is very easy. When they are on your right, use the right side's attack button and the left side's attack button when the enemy is on your left. Simple.

After playing for a while, you will notice that grabbing enemies is pretty useless, and so is kicking. Kicking ruins your balance and isn't effective either. So if you want to attack enemies, the best option is to use your melee weapons. They are quick to use and deal massive damage. You can eliminate enemies with just a couple of swings.

You will also find a critical bar on the bottom right of your screen. Once this gets filled, you can long-press the melee button to do a critical attack, which does enough damage to take down other riders in a single shot.

Lastly, keep in mind to avoid attacking enemies when you are steering right or left as it will knock you off balance, and you might go off the road.

Road Redemption Mobile defending tips

Tip #4 - Learn to defend yourself

Other riders will also try to knock you down, which is why it's important to learn to defend yourself. Defending is easy to understand but a bit tricky to execute.

For the fans of good brawls:

On the right-hand side of the screen, you will field a shield button, which you can press to defend yourself from enemy attacks. But it's all about timing. You will have to press it precisely when the enemy is just about to attack, or else you won't block the incoming attack. It might take a few tries to figure out the exact timing, but once you learn it, it's a piece of cake.

Tip #5 - How to go faster

You will want to stay on the road to move at maximum speed. Going off road in the mud or mountains will slow you down.

Try to only use nitrous on a straight road because it gives you a huge speed boost. If you do it on a turn, you will likely go off the road, wasting nitrous, and chances are you will also fall off the bike, taking damage.

On each track, there are some shortcuts you can take to finish races faster. Shortcuts are also safer, helping you keep health points and accumulate more speed boosts.

Tip #6 - How to get more nitrous and health?

You can get more nitrous by collecting boosts from the road. Other activities, such as taking down other riders or a close call, will also give you a speed boost. For health, you get some health points by taking down other riders.

About the game

Road Redemption Mobile tries to emulate the old Road Rash, the famous combat racer. In Road Redemption Mobile, you lead a motorcycle gang in a brutal road rage adventure. It is set in the post-apocalyptic world where you participate in action-filled races to survive and win.

I played a lot of Road Rash in my childhood, and there is no other way to say it, but Road Redemption Mobile is nothing compared to the original. From graphics to the gameplay, I still feel the game released in 1991 outperforms in every aspect.

A few racers to satisfy that need for speed:
