Pokemon Go will kick off the New Year with Chespin featuring in the first Community Day of 2023
Niantic wrapped up the final Pokémon Go Community Day of the year over the weekend. It saw all the Pokémon that were featured over the last two years show up for this massive celebration. Now, as we near the end of this year, the devs have just revealed the new year’s first Pokémon Go celebration.
Kicking off Community Days in January 2023 is the Spiny Nut Pokémon, Chespin. Between 2:00 and 5:00 pm on January 7th, 2023, Chespin and its Shiny variant will appear more frequently in the wild. Trainers that manage to catch enough of the Pokémon will have Candies that will evolve Chespin into a Chesnaught that knows the Charged Attack Frenzy Plant.
As always, a number of bonuses will go live during the event as well. Players will receive 2x Candy for catching Pokémon, with a greater chance at getting XL ones too. Lure Modules and Incense activated during the day will last for three hours. Eggs will hatch in only one-fourth the distance and numerous Special Trades will be available.
Once the official Community Day is over, Bonus Raid Battles will ensue until 10:00 pm local time. It will be a four-star battle featuring the intermediary evolution between Chespin and Chestnaught – Quilladin. Successfully completing the fight will ensure Chespin appears that a higher rate just outside the Gym.
This, along with the added Lure Modules and Incense should make it pretty simple to gather the 100 Candies needed to evolve Chespin. Trainers can also enjoy an added benefit from the Community Day special story called Quality Quills which will be available for $1.00 or your local equivalent.
Don’t forget to spin PokéStops and open gifts that contain exclusive event-themed stickers as well!
