It’s been a couple of weeks since Season 9: Mythical Wishes launched on Pokémon Go and we’re all geared up for the first massive event to go live. When the December 2022 calendar launched, Niantic stated it will celebrate the holidays in two parts and we finally have information on what the first half will include.

Winter Holiday Part One launches on December 15th and it will remain live until the 23rd, post which the second part will take over. Making its debut in this event is Mega Glalie, Snorunt’s Mega Evolution. It will be available in Raid Battles, which will also grant 50% more XP for victories over the next week.

A lot of Pokémon like Spheal and Stantler will be seen embracing the Christmas spirit as they put on holiday outfits. Pikachu will be seen in a Winter Carnival costume while Glaceon will don the Undersea Holiday outfit. These Pokémon and a bunch of others will be found increasingly in the wild, in raids, eggs, and field research encounters too.

For $5.00 or your local equivalent, trainers can purchase or gift an event-exclusive Timed Research with numerous tasks that lead to a Christmas-y avatar pose as the final prize. Other goodies include two incubators, one incense, Abomasnow Mega Energy, and encounters with numerous Pokémon.

Don’t forget to check out the in-game shop as well, which includes a number of themed avatar items like the Holiday Pajama Top, Bottoms, Slippers Gifting Pose, Holiday Hat, Suit, and Holiday Beard. Spinning PokéStops and opening Gifts will unlock some adorable stickers too, so keep an eye out.

This is just the first half of the event. Expect a lot more to come when part two of Winter Holiday goes live right around Christmas time. Download Pokémon GO now for free by clicking on your preferred link below.
