So, it is nearly impossible to create a new video game without players claiming that they're simply copying what's already proven to be popular. Although let's be honest, TiMi Studios are jumping on a trend here, so that's to be expected.

Despite that, the team has said that the new Honor of Kings Chess would take a fresh look at the classic auto chess set-up. The game will be made in 3D format and will combine unique features of strategy with entertainment. Tencent Games wants to change the stereotype that chess games are boring and can not get high online numbers. It sounds interesting, but nobody knows how they will realize the project just yet.

There is no official date for release either inside or outside of China. The game was announced less than a month ago. So, it is likely that developers will not announce an official release date any time soon.

The development of this video game might take much longer than you think. As you know, the developers also announced two more new games: Honor of Kings World and Codename Breaking Dawn, meaning they are working on three projects simultaneously. On top of that, Tencent Games has various already-released video games that require seasonal updates and regular support. 

Also, there is a high chance that Tencent will follow the ordinary practice and make a beta release for Honor of Kings Chess for the Chinese region. Therefore, the earliest time for the global release of Honor of Kings Chess is late 2023. Moreover, various problems might arise during the development of the new games. So, there is always a possibility that the release will be delayed.
