Ahead of its planned beta test date of April 24th, the highly anticipated action RPG Wuthering Waves has released a brand new trailer that offers players a look at what they can expect within the said beta. This new trailer shows off the game’s flashy combat, a small peek at some story details, and more.

Wuthering Waves is likely the only release this year that I’d say could easily contend with the other highly anticipated RPG planned for release this month: Honkai Star Rail. Given that Wuthering Waves is not only the next release from the developers of the beloved Punishing Gray Raven, but also their spin on the popular open-world format of gameplay, it’s easy to see why this is one to keep an eye on.

And now, with this new trailer, we have a better look at what exactly the soon-to-come beta test will involve. The video shows off a lot of the exploration players will be taking part in, which includes heavily vertical traversal utilising a grappling hook-like item to dive into the beautifully melancholic ruins of the post-apocalyptic setting the game is set within.

Of course, the exploration is only one half of the game, as the rest of the trailer mainly focuses on what players of Punishing Gray Raven are truly excited about: the excellent action combat. Given how great PGR’s combat system was, it’s easy to see how it paid off for Wuthering Waves too.

You can see it in every animation and every strike each character makes. The animations are fluid and flashy and every strike seems to hold quite a lot of weight. Combine the excellent soundtrack and a few hints at some story cutscenes, and this beta seems to be aiming to truly blow us away.

If you, like me, were thoroughly impressed by this trailer, you can head over to the official website and pre-register ahead of time. Unfortunately, beta sign-ups have closed as of April 14th, but those of you that did get in on that have a lot to look forward to!
