World of Warships: Legends is heading for mobile with a preliminary test for Android underway in Canada

Publisher and developer Wargaming has announced that World of Warships: Legends will soon be heading for mobile, complete with cross-platform support with the console version. The multiplayer title is currently being tested in Canada on high-end Android devices. Wargaming has described this as a preliminary test and hasn't announced a global release date yet.

Unsurprisingly, the mobile version will be developed by Wargaming St Petersburg, who also worked on the console edition, with the team optimising the controls to suit touch screen devices. The plan is to enable cross-platform progression as well as play so you can use the same account whenever you decide it's time for some naval combat.

Discussing the upcoming mobile launch, Evgeniy Shukin, World of Warships: Legends Publishing Director, said: “The gaming landscape is constantly changing and mobile, as the fastest growing gaming platform, provides us with enticing opportunities both in terms of attracting new players and providing our console audience new ways to enjoy our game.”

He added: “We are excited to see how players engage with the game on these new platforms and we look forward to sharing more details with our community later as we evaluate the feedback and determine our next steps.”

World of Warships: Legends first launched on PlayStation and Xbox back in 2019. It brought the PC version to consoles with a slightly different feel, alongside a few exclusive features. Since its launch, it has been downloaded over seven million times.

World of Warships: Legends will release on the App Store and Google Play sometime in the future, though no release date has been announced just yet. As always, we will update as and when we learn more. It is a free-to-play game with in-app purchases.
