Super Mombo Quest is an adorable platformer where you take on the role of a purple, monster-like creature who has mannerisms similar to a dog. He is the hero of prophecy who is powerful enough to help save the world around him.

The game is the classic, arcade-style platformer that you know and love. However, there are some extra gameplay elements that add to the intrigue. From stomping to double jumping and even a super ability, it mixes the old school with some neat modern extras.

For the most part, it's pretty straightforward, but as you progress, you may see the challenge pick up a tick but fortunately, the controls are easy to learn. We'll give you a few tips that will help you lead our little creature friend to glory.

Double Jump Often

One thing we mentioned was the ability to double jump in Super Mombo Quest. Depending on what area you're in, you may not always need to rely on it. However, definitely feel free to work on it. Improving your skills with it can really come in handy when needed.

This can be helpful when dealing with enemies too. Sometimes, one jump isn't enough to get in a good stomp of your foes. Double jumping can be a safe route to ensure you get it in. The only concern would be if you accidentally jump over them.

You'll have the opportunity to perform the move quite a bit early on which is nice. It's not an end all be all trick but it can help in more ways than one. It can also let you jump higher off of bouncy objects which is a nice little benefit too.

Be Wary of Your Surroundings

Sometimes, platformers may have some form of strategy attached to it. Yes, you can still just try and blaze through levels in Super Mombo Quest. However, if you aren't careful, that can lead you to your demise so make sure to peek around very briefly before going ahead.

Now, if your confidence is through the roof, then, by all means, go for it. But if you feel that you're in a tricky position, then definitely consider your approach. As mentioned, you don't need to think about this much so there's no need to sit and ponder or anything.

Essentially, just avoid being too careless as you do have enemies and traps around, of course. Early on, you shouldn't have any trouble though. It's just as you progress where things may change on you a bit.

Take Advantage of The Dash Button

We mentioned earlier that Super Mombo Quest has some extra little abilities compared to most platformer games. One, in particular, is the Dash button. This little beauty can be a lifesaver at times. It allows you to quickly zip ahead, making it easier to avoid traps.

This move is very similar to what Madeline (or Penny Pad as I named her as a nod to writing) can do in Celeste. There, she can use a ghostly-like dash ability that can make what is a very challenging game a bit easier at times.

The same can be said with SMQ too. It can take a little bit of time to get used to it but once you do, it will make things a bit smoother. Another small tip that we'll leave you with is to get yourself comfortable with wall climbing. Yes, our little monster friend can scale walls...using his tongue. Being able to climb fast can help you in certain situations so keep that in mind as well.
