Pokémon Trading Card Game Pocket and its CCG action are about to get a boost. In fact, you might say things are about to get 'mega' with the introduction of the fan-favourite Mega Evolutions. Set to arrive this fall, Mega Evolutions will bring a whole new dimension to the hit adaptation of the iconic card collector.
For those not in the know, Mega Evolutions are a mechanic first introduced in Pokémon X and Y. Despite the name, it doesn't actually evolve a Pokémon into a different creature, but a mega version of itself. Boasting different stats and mega-specific abilities, these are a cut above regular Pokémon.
The trailer for Mega Evolutions shows off a number of these, including Mega Gyrados, Mega Altaria and the debut of Blaziken and its Mega form to boot. All of which look to boast snazzy card designs and immersive artwork suitable for those wanting to battle and collectors alike.

The introduction of Mega Evolutions promises to be a literal game-changer for battles in Pokémon TCG Pocket. Offering a way to further upgrade some of your favourite Pokémon into new forms, and not to mention the snazzy new looks to fill up your virtual binder with.It also shows that, despite a somewhat shaky 2025, the folks behind TCG Pocket are still dedicated to bringing many fan-favourite mechanics to this definitive version of the hit card collector. I suppose the only question now, then, is who you're going to pick for a mega evolution when they arrive?
