It's time to celebrate the New Year with all your best buddies! Bring out all those Pokémon from their Poké Balls for the coolest party of the year. Slowpoke is living up to its name and is celebrating the beginning of 2021 but at least Slowking knows what year it is. Join them and other Pokémon in new costumes, party hats, and more in Pokémon GO’s New Year’s celebration.

Pokémon Go’s New Years event will run from December 31st at 10:00 pm to January 4th at 8:00 pm local time. The Season of Heritage continues as Spark works to unlock the mysterious door in the mountain. He’s already solved the first part of the locking mechanism, releasing loads of Dragon-type Pokémon into the wild, but two more parts are left to go. However, it is time to celebrate, so Spark is taking the day off to throw a party for everyone!

Bring in the New Year with fireworks that are set to appear in Pokémon Go from December 31st at 11:00 pm to January 2nd at 12:00 am local time. Event bonuses like 2x Hatch Stardust, 2x Hatch Candy, and ½ Hatch Distance will also be active. Additionally, trainers can participate in the New Year’s Timed Research to find lots of Pokémon decked up in cute costumes.

In the wild, players can expect to find a silly Slowpoke still in 2020 Glasses, Slowbro thinking it looks cool in 2021’s and Slowking, who’s the only one living in 2022. With some luck, players might encounter a Shiny Hoothoot as well. Other Pokémon donning New Year’s and party hats include Bulbasaur, Squirtle, Charmander, Pikachu, Gengar, and more. All these Pokémon will also be available in Field Research Tasks, Eggs, and Raids.

The Pokémon are not the only ones dressing up in Pokémon GO. Trainers can also put on some new threads and celebrate 2022 with their friends. Players can purchase 2022 Glasses, New Year’s Headband, Jacket Set, Pants, and Shoes from the in-game shop. PokéStops will also provide multiple gifts for spinning them.

Get ready for a frolicking New Year by downloading Pokémon Go for free on the App Store and Google Play.
