Pokemon Go is letting you become an in-game Gym Trainer with its new contest

Have you ever imagined what it's like to be a Gym trainer in Pokémon? With the upcoming Pokémon Go Tour: Johto, Niantic is ready to fulfil that dream as players from around the world will have a chance to feature as an in-game Gym trainer! Created specifically for the Tour, everyone stands a chance to be immortalized in the Pokémon Go world by following a few simple steps. Check out how to be featured as a Gym Trainer below.

It’s not easy being a Pokémon trainer. It requires a lot of hard work and dedication. While players don’t have to go out and battle, a contest will still be held to decide which lucky set of trainers will appear during the event. All entries to become a Gym Trainer on Pokémon Go must be submitted on Twitter by February 1st at the latest. Here are all the details that must be included:

  • A photo of the Trainer Profile exhibiting the nickname and avatar
  • Your Pokémon team that will take part in gym battles. Three Pokémon from the Kanto or Johto region must be picked, with Ditto, Legendary, and Mythic Pokémon not allowed. Additionally, they must all be the same type
  • The tweet should contain the hashtag #PokemonGOTourContent

All entries will be judged based on avatar item choices, general theme, and connection to the chosen Pokémon type. All winners will be featured in the Pokémon Go world during the Johto Tour, which is being held on February 26th. These trainers will be spread across the map for other players to battle against. Who knows, you may also find yourself! These battles will also reward players through Timed Research. All the terms and conditions for the contest can be read on its dedicated website.
