Pokémon Go’s Season of Heritage began in December and introduced us to a mysterious door in a mountain, which had some ties to the past. With three mechanisms to unlock, it was going to take some time for trainers to reveal what is hidden but they kept making strides.

The first mechanism saw dragon-type Pokémon from the Unova region showing up while the second used rock and steel-type Pokémon to activate and revealed mountains similar to the Johto and Sinnoh regions. Now, the final mechanism was activated with the help of Spark and electric-type Pokémon. Unfortunately, Team Rocket’s nefarious plans foiled everyone’s efforts and stole whatever was behind that door.

Trainers later found out that there was a mysterious power behind the door and Arlo had used it to fulfil his evil intentions. Rumours were floating around that Arlo used the stolen power to create extremely powerful Shadow Pokémon and it looks like they were right.

Arlo was somehow able to harness whatever was behind the door to create Pokémon that were more powerful than even the Shadow Pokémon that Team Rocket uses. He utilized the power to create Apex Shadow Lugia and Apex Shadow Ho-Oh! Things are going to get very heated as these two legendary Pokémon are now under a malicious influence and trainers must try their best to save them.

To participate in this challenging event, players must own a ticket to the Pokémon Go Tour: Johto. This will unlock a Special Research called Masterwork Research, a progressive questline that will keep expanding. It is during this event that trainers will come across the Apex Shadow legendaries. There’s something really fearful about them but can be changed once they are purified, a form that will heighten their pre-existing abilities.

Apex Shadow Ho-Oh uses Sacred Fire+ that deals 130 and 135 damage in Trainer Battles and Gyms/Raids respectively. After purifying, Sacred Fire++ it deals an extra 20 damage in Gyms and Raids. Apex Shadow Lugia’s Aero Blast+ deals 170 and 200 damage in Trainer Battles and Gyms/Raids respectively, and Aeroblast++ deals 225 damage in Gyms and Raids.

Check out everything you need to know about the Johto tour in this article and prepare to save these Pokémon by downloading Pokémon Go for free on the App Store and Google Play.
