Pokemon Go's upcoming Johto Tour brings Shiny Gyarados and Celebi

Niantic has finally shed some light on the long-awaited Pokémon Go Tour: Johto experience. After a successful tour of the Kanto region, Pokémon Gold and Pokémon Silver are returning with the upcoming Johto tour. Players can choose either the Gold or Silver version to modify their event experiences and receive an exclusive Pokémon as well! The tour will feature special researches, tests on Pokémon collection skills and an encounter with Celebi as well!

Pokémon Go’s Johto Tour goes live on February 26th, where everyone can participate and win rewards, with exclusive benefits for trainers who have bought tickets. On February 27th, an in-person event will be held in select locations for everyone to join in and catch Pokémon from the new region. Tickets are priced at $11.99 USD.

Niantic has also announced that everyone will also have to pick between Chikorita, Cyndaquil, and Totodile as a Pokémon that will accompany them on this adventure. The chosen Pokémon will aid the trainer in all their research task events. Take a look at the kind of challenges that can be expected in the special research tasks:

  • Catching different species of Pokémon
  • Evolving Pokémon
  • Earning Stardust
  • Taking GO Snapshots
  • Defeating Team GO Rocket Grunts

Rewards for completing these challenges include evolution items, Rocket Radar pieces, and also an encounter with Shiny Gyarados and Celebi with the Magical Leaf attack. Currently, trainers who purchase the Tour ticket right now will also gain access to the Season of Heritage February Timed Research that will award players with a Noibat Hat Avatar Item and an encounter with Noibat.
