iOS + Android + 3DS ...

It's been a slow old day. Not a lot of big stories - Zynga's Montopia and Fieldrunners 2 HD aside - and not many scraps, either.

It's almost as if games makers are wary of their news getting buried under a mountain of Apple-related articles come 6pm, isn't it?

Oh, well. Here are the stories that didn't quite make the cut today.

New releases

Bethesda's mobile spin-off for Dishonored, Rat Assassin, is now out on iPad, too. It's basically a cheeky Fruit Ninja clone, but with pox-ridden rodents instead of bananas. Free, thankfully.

Sound the 'new Windows Phone game' alarm! Here's Crimson Dragon: Side Story! It's a spin-off shooter to upcoming XBLA game Crimson Dragon, which in turn is a spiritual successor to the Panzer Dragoon series. Confused yet?

atr-turnrun

In Turn 'N' Run, meanwhile, you "swipe the screen to rotate the environment and link up seemingly distant blocks in order to create a path". Which sounds like the awfully clever Fez and Crush. We also dig the insectoid hero. 69p / 99c for iPhone.

Tech stuff

"Today is a big day for Android," Google product manager Hugo Barra says (without a hint of irony). "500 million devices activated globally, and over 1.3 million added every single day." Interesting timing from Google there...

On the horizon

A mysterious Game Boy Advance category has appeared on Nintendo's Virtual Console site in Australia. It's only carrying one game at the moment - Dr Mario - but might this be a hint that more GBA games are about to start hitting the eShop?

Professor Layton vs Phoenix Wright has now got a release date... in Japan. This 3DS crossover will be launched on November 29th. No word yet on Capcom's plans to publish it in the West.

atr-demonscore

Square Enix has opened up a website for its rhythm-based iOS and Android title Demons' Score. It's an Elite Beat Agents-style game featuring music from a litany of Square composers (including the music men behind Final Fantasy XI and Kingdom Hearts).

And...

Nintendo's set up a number of Mario Kart 7 tournaments around Great Britain. Winners will take home a golden trophy, and a year's supply of 3DS games.
