If you're eager to check out all the best weapons in Lost Light, then we've got you covered. Today's guide is all about finding which weapons are the best for their type, why, and how you can pick a weapon depending on what you're trying to achieve. So far the game has divided its weapons into a few categories, which we will dive into shortly.

Before we check those out, it's only fair to talk about the actual gameplay a little bit. Lost Light is a survival shooter where players can team up in order to collect loot, eliminate enemies and expand their operation. There are a couple of ways to go about completing the missions and depending on each player's approach, everyone can devise their own technique to fulfil the missions.

Since the game is rather high-risk-high-reward, having a good weapon by your side is going to prove extremely useful.

Quick reloading times are crucial

Since the game will place the player in many situations that require quick action and lots of shooting (sometimes with very little shelter), your weapon should reload relatively quickly. The very best weapons have a pretty short reloading time, and a decent firing rate and aren't extremely heavy, so they will allow you to carry more loot with you.

What are the most important characteristics that make a weapon good?

There are several factors to consider when choosing a go-to weapon. To start with, you want to make sure it's accurate, right? That can be done by having a weapon with a decent calibre that can fit multiple mods that are specifically designed to improve its accuracy.

The second factor to consider is the weapon's weight. Weight sometimes plays a factor in accuracy, but most often than not you'll achieve that by having the right mods installed. Therefore, the weight will most likely just add to your character's overall movement speed and that is something to consider if you are pressed for time.

The weapon's fire rate is important when you have to deal with lots of enemies at once - this aspect will not matter too much if there are just a couple of enemies scattered throughout the maps, or if you're the one responsible for the looting. However, that's a completely different story. What's important to know is that if you have a reliable weapon (like a good sniper or shotgun) you don't necessarily need a high fire rate.

So without further ado, let's dive into the actual Lost Light weapons guide and check out all of their stats!

AKM

The AKM is an automatic assault rifle that the player can easily access during the early stages of the game. This weapon can fit many mods that can basically turn it into an outstanding piece of equipment that is stable, accurate, and effective at doing its job.

  • Weight: 3.7 kg+
  • Caliber: 7.62x39 mm
  • Fire rate: 9.5/sec

Once you've managed to attach several good, high-end mods, the AKM can be a beast. Its fire rate is pretty good, and the calibre, weight and accuracy are exactly what you need for both close-range and mid-range combat. It's definitely one of the best weapons in Lost Light that is worth upgrading if you want something (fairly) accessible and viable.

ADAR-15

This heavy-duty (or rather, just heavy) carabine has extremely high firepower, with a caliber than can shred through pretty much anything. The ADAR-15 is not ideal for travelling lightweight, since it's a weapon that requires some mods to make it top-notch.

  • Weight: 5.2 kg
  • Caliber: 5.56x45 mm
  • Fire rate: 12.0/sec

This weapon can be purchased or found in enemy boxes, and it's something worth adding to the collection if you want a reliable semi-automatic assault rifle with a high fire rate and strong firepower. You will most likely not find it very useful in the earlier missions (and until you fit some mods), but once you've managed to upgrade it, it can become useful in many situations.

AK-74M

Probably one of the best weapons overall in the game, the AK-74M is a pricey gun that delivers tenfold. You might recognise the name because it's a widely popular weapon in many shooters, and rightfully so - it's accurate, it's efficient, and it is lightweight.

  • Weight: 3.8 kg
  • Caliber: 5.45x39 mm
  • Fire rate: 10.0/sec

This is a weapon you want to use along with the Advanced Mod because it will turn it into an outstanding piece of weaponry. The stability, scope and accuracy of the AK-74M are close to none when it comes to both close and far-range combat, giving it some of the best stats in the end-game if the right mods and upgrades are installed.

P90

This relatively small SMG has a high capacity and a very high firing rate, easily landing it a spot on our best weapons in Lost Light list.

  • Weight: 2.9 kg
  • Caliber: 5.7x28 mm
  • Fire rate: 13.0/sec

Since the full automatic submachine gun P90 can run through as much as 900 rounds per minute, this weapon is ideal for situations where you need to shoot first and ask questions later. The weapon works best in close combat and the high capacity and fast reloading speed don't take away from its precision and lethality. Overall, it's one of the best lightweight weapons you can switch to if you're planning to go head-first into battle.

TX-15

For mid-range combat, the TX-15 is a good, fairly lightweight DML rifle with a long barrel that can fit mods to make it better at far-range too.

  • Weight: 4.1 kg
  • Caliber: 5.56x45 mm
  • Fire rate: 12.0/sec

For any type of medium-range combat, the TX15's accuracy is close to none, since the mods increase its accuracy by a lot and the ammo it uses is ideal for dealing with multiple enemies in a short time span.

Mosin-Nagant Sniper Rifle

This nineteenth-century sniper rifle takes its name from the two designers who developed it - it might be a little bit ragged and vintage-looking, but it is extremely precise for a sniper.

  • Weight: 4.7 kg+
  • Caliber: 7.62x54 mm
  • Fire rate: 0.7/sec

The centenarian Mosin-Nagant is slow and reliable, exactly what one might expect from a sniper rifle. Its precision is extremely high, and although it is old, it can do what most of the newer weapons can. It's deadly, accurate, and pretty fun for a sniper.

VSS

The VSS is a Soviet weapon with a built-in suppressor that makes it silent, but deadly. It's one of the best standard weapons to take on most missions if you're trying to be discreet since it will not trigger/alert enemies.

  • Weight: 2.6 kg+
  • Caliber: 9x39 mm
  • Fire rate: 12.0/sec

This weapon has some very neat mods and upgrades, and you can reliably use it in most missions for close and medium-range combat, to long-range if the situation requires you to. It's a good, accurate and light DMR with a good fire rate.

MP153

This semi-automatic shotgun is probably the best shotgun you can play in Lost Light. The fire rate is not as high when compared to the SG12 and the M870, but the fact that it's lighter and has a mechanism for fast reloading makes it the best in our book.

  • Weight: 3.0 kg+
  • Caliber: 12x70 mm
  • Fire rate: 2.5/sec

Because of the unique mechanism it features to reload faster, the Baikal MP153 is a weapon many people turn to for its reliability, speed, accuracy and... because it's overall a very impressive shotgun. This weapon awakens the thrill of the hunt, and when you use it during your games, you'll notice not only precision shots but also effective ones.

M4A1

Another reliable semi-automatic assault rifle that also has a fully-automatic firing mode, the M4A1 is a beast from afar and even more so from close range. If you install some mods you can turn it into a highly accurate piece of equipment that can be used during missions from any range, with reliable headshot precision.

  • Weight: 3.7 kg
  • Caliber: 5.56x45 mm
  • Fire rate: 12.0/sec

This is a high-end gas-fed carabine that you will most likely turn to if you're the dedicated fighter on the team since the fully automatic feature will facilitate dealing with the enemies while moving and following your objective. The reloading speed is also fairly good, so it's worth considering modding it to make it your primary weapon.

MP7

This fast-firing, accurate SMG is an outstanding weapon for close combat. Originally designed for defensive purposes, the MP7 is a lightweight weapon you can carry with you at all times.

  • Weight: 2.2 kg+
  • Caliber: 4.6x30 mm
  • Fire rate: 14.5/sec

There are a large number of mods that you can install to make the MP7 even more viable, and if you plan on taking on multiple enemies, the increased capacity is great. The weapon is among the best in Lost Light since it is compact and lightweight and wreaks havoc from close range.
