Fortnite will ring in the new year with a tiny event

While Epic Games hasn’t made any official announcement about a new year’s event for Fortnite this year, it certainly seems like the battle royale will be hosting a small celebration at the very least. Some leakers have uncovered files that show that there are assets for a New Year event, which means something is surely happening.

A few leakers have found files with a giant Loot Llama and 2023 written next to them, which will probably be fireworks. In fact, a video has come up with the entire event itself too. It doesn’t look like anything fancy as a disco ball just lowers from the sky and everyone stops and dances for a while.

Eventually, when the clock strikes 12, fireworks begin all around the island and the word 2023 is seen in the sky. That’s pretty much it. Nothing fancy and it definitely will not be like the other live events which require players to cue up for the match.

The new year’s celebration will take place in regular games itself, and we’re assuming that when it's 12:00 am ET, the mini-event should kick off, rendering all items and weapons useless while the festivities last. Once all crackers have been burst, gameplay should become normal and matches should proceed as usual.

There currently isn’t much clarity on anything happening other than this so players shouldn’t be expecting new quests or rewards either. The fact that Epic Games has also been radio silent about their decision to end Winterfest 2022 early, or address all the game-breaking bugs that currently exist, means nothing really is in the pipeline right now.

Regardless, a tiny celebration will be held anyway since it has been found in the files so be sure to check that out. You can download Fortnite from the official website or play using XCloud.
