There's been quite a debate on whether or not you should actually invest in the premium ones (Red Crystals) if you already have access to the free ones (Blue Crystals). To this, we say yes. Gil
One of the very first and most important currencies in FFVII Ever Crisis is Gil. You can use this currency to purchase various items from the shop (non-premium) but more importantly, you need Gil to upgrade weapons.

General Missions, such as raising the level of your characters and reaching specific Player Levels, can also reward you with Blue Crystals.
