Dragon Quest Smash/Grow tier list (September 2026)
Not all weapons can smash blue slimes efficiently, which is why I've ranked the 3-star ones in our Dragon Quest Smash/Grow tier list so you can pick out what's best.
I really don't understand why anyone would want to smash an innocent blue blob so hard it bounces and ricochets across the screen, but in Dragon Quest Smash/Grow, that's exactly what you're doing.
Now, I might be sympathetic to these derpy little slimes, but I suppose that's what they're there for. And if you want to smash and grow in this Survivors-like, you'll need to have the best weapons in your arsenal, which is where our Dragon Quest Smash/Grow tier list comes in.
You'll pull everything from fodder whips to dupe boomerangs in the summons pool here, so for the sake of simplicity, I'll only be ranking all of the 3-star weapons you can get from the gacha. A lot of them are only available for a limited time during special banners, so you really will miss out if you don't log in every day. I suspect there'll be returning banners sometime in the future, but for now, you'll just have to learn how to deal with the FOMO if a particular weapon you're eyeing manages to slip through your fingers.

S tier
Metal Slime Sword and Metal Wing - These metal weapons rank the highest in our Dragon Quest Smash/Grow tier list, mainly because they offer non-elemental physical damage, which is always handy in any situation. For me, I prefer the Metal Wing since it's got a wider range and can hit multiple targets - more on this later in the Platinum Wing section.
The Wizardly Whip ranks a tad higher too in my opinion thanks to its 4-gauge cost, which is the shortest I've ever seen among all the 3-star weapons. Its Coup de Grace lets you summon the spirit Samshin to attack automatically for you, and it'll last for 60 seconds or until it gets killed.

A tier
I feel like this is going to be a controversial pick, but for me, honestly, the Platinum Plumes are peak - and it's free, too! I've been having such a blast with the Platinum Plumes thanks to its fast attacks and decent distance. It helps me manoeuvre around the battlefield quickly and still get to hit multiple targets for easy crowd control, and it also just looks really, really cool.
The Coup de Grace does promise a Silence debuff, but at its base level, it doesn't proc very often, and not a lot of enemies have magic spells it can be effective against. But it only takes 5 slots to fill up the gauge - the shortest gauge requirement out of all the 6-slot ones on the other F2P weapons.

B tier
Crystal Claws - I like Crystal Claws second mainly because of how fast it is too, even though it's a melee weapon. The flinch effect in the final hit relies on RNG as well, sadly, but when it does trigger, it's a winner.
Falcon Blade - Falcon Blade is effective mainly because of how well it synergises with the Wind Spheres blessing. I've found this to be incredibly powerful each time the random blessing pops up, so if you keep focusing on that, you'll pretty much feel god-like.
Fire Blade - Personally, I find the Fire Blade boring and slow, but it might not just be for me. I'm not ranking it in C tier just yet though, mainly because of its Infernal Impact blessing that you get at Quest Start, where you can shoot two fire projectiles each time you defeat an enemy.
4
C tier
Shiverstick This is the slowest weapon in my experience, and its AoE range on its Coup de Grace just means you have to be surrounded before it's effective.
Queen's Whip I had a terrible time with this one. Its damage is weak, it's unstable to wield, and the Coup de Grace isn't even that helpful.
Sandstorm Spear It's…okay. It's definitely not the best. I used this mainly just because the sandstorm looks kinda fun, but really, it's the most lacklustre 3-star weapon in this Dragon Quest Smash/Grow tier list.

Reroll guide
If you did pick the Queen's Whip for some unfortunate reason, fret not, as it's incredibly easy to reroll. All you have to do is return to the title page and tap Manage Data, then Delete Account.
The system will prompt you to type in a code just so you're really, really sure you want to delete your whole progress, but after that, you'll wipe everything clean and start with a new account.
From there, it's a simple matter of clearing through the tutorial again, which only takes 10 minutes. Then, claim your Gift from the mailbox as a reward for clearing the tutorial, and you'll get one ticket for the unlimited weapon reroll gacha banner.
And that's it for our Dragon Quest Smash/Grow tier list! If you're still looking for other ways you can pass judgment on characters and towers too, how about taking a peek at our Ratchet & Clank: Ranger Rumble tier list and Twilight Towers unit tier list?
