Ratchet & Clank: Ranger Rumble tier list (August 2026) - Earn your spot among the Galactic Rangers

Mopz is currently the best character in the game, earning him a spot at the top of our Ratchet & Clank: Ranger Rumble tier list. The reason is simple: he's incredibly easy to use. His primary weapon, Blackhole Storm, has good range and damage, which increases as it speeds up. Once upgraded, the spin-up speed can go even faster, making it even simpler to mow down your opponents. Then, if you appear to be losing a skirmish, toss your Voltage Drop Gadget at the enemy to deal an obscene amount of damage. His Ultimate, Negatron Collider, is good too but, honestly, you won't find yourself using it much.

To somewhat defeat the purpose of my own rankings, Grimshot isn't all that easy to use, partly because he's the only character you have to manually aim with rather than pointing in the vague direction of an opponent. However, given he's a sniper, that shouldn't be too much of a problem if you stay out of the fray. His weapon is also his only source of damage, removing any choice paralysis of using something else. Instead, you only have to use Holoshield Glove and Smoke Leap when you're in danger.

Despite, or perhaps because, Widget is the starting character, she's incredibly straightforward to use and deals decent damage. Once upgraded, her Burst Pistol pumps out decent damage, and her Ryno Ultimate is great for turning around an unfavourable one-on-one. However, her Drill Thrust Gadget can be a little awkward to use if you don't immediately kill your opponent with it since you're suddenly standing right next to them. She's still great, though, just a worse version of Mopz, essentially.

I wanted to put Tempest higher on our Ratchet & Clank: Ranger Rumble tier list. I love a robot pirate, and compared to a lot of the other Heroes, he feels distinct. His Cold Snap weapon is a sort of mini mortar that slows opponents, and his Ultimate, Good Ol' Shot, is a giant cannonball that scatters enemies like bowling pins. His Void Repulser Gadget is more defensive and, when used correctly, can be incredibly effective. However, the poor guy is just too slow. If you have to give chase at any point, there's a good chance that your target will get away.

Much like the other members of the B tier, Sparky is a solid pick. He requires a bit more nous than those in A and S. His Pyrocitor weapon deals good damage and has the bonus of blocking half your enemies' screen (never count out the power of being annoying). However, the range isn't quite there, and his Hunter Mine Launcher is slightly awkward to use, never quite blowing up when you want it to. The same can be said of his Ultimate, Big Boom, which is similar except you choose when it explodes and it can launch you in the air. It’s very powerful when used correctly but a little finicky.

This one is likely quite divisive. Community sentiment is that Zed is incredibly good, and I can see why. His Warmonger weapon pumps out a ton of damage if your opponent is savvy enough to dash away from its slow-moving projectiles. His Tank Formation Ultimate is fantastic, allowing you to eliminate opponents quickly. I find aiming his Bombardier Gadget a pain, though, and against smart opponents, getting kills with Warmonger is tricky since the missiles are dodgeable, leaving you feeling like a comeback is always required when you can finally use Tank Formation. That said, I have made several comebacks in this exact way, which is why I've placed Zed in the middle.

As is the pattern in B tier, Sprocket is pretty good. However, she has a few flaws that hold her back from the coveted S and A tiers. Her Ultimate, Mega Strike, is a stellar gap closer that deals solid damage, while her Shatterbomb weapon deals great damage if it lands. The problem is that because it's a grenade, it does splash damage, so a well-timed jump from your opponent can mitigate it entirely. You can play around this, but we are talking about ease of use here. With Mopz and Widget, you just point and shoot; No brain power required. Oh, and her Hoverboots Gadget is a pain to use on most maps since it moves so fast you usually crash into things. Plus, it doesn't do any damage.

Celeste's problems are found across her kit. Her Gadget, Crysoslider, sends discs across the ground, knocking into anyone who's a bit flat-footed. It's alright. Except that in a game where verticality is a huge deal, something that's rooted to the floor isn't that useful. Her ultimate, Hoverboard, is great for escaping and bumping enemies for damage if you can control it. The issue is the maps are so small that it's the easiest thing to manoeuvre. This is overly negative, though. The Buzz Blades deal good damage, and they're awesome.

Chip is decent, particularly when his Tesla Claw is upgraded to hit two enemies at the same time. Likewise, the Glove of Doom can do incredibly good damage. However, it's mostly just a worse version of Mopz’s Voltage Drop since the agents that spawn are easier to run away from. They're actually best used when being chased since your opponent is more likely to run into them. In the right hands, though, Chip is a problem. He's just a bit more specialised than those ranked above him.

Entirely because I love the Amoeboid in the main Ratchet & Clank series, I wanted Lump to be great. Unfortunately, while he can be a nuisance, he's not fantastic. His Lava Gun doesn't do all that much damage, and the Amoeboid Launcher's two options are more confusing than useful. His Ultimate, Mutagenic Burst, makes Lump harder to kill, but that's really all it is: Just staying alive a little longer. Of course, you can do well with Lump; it just feels like a ton of effort.

Remember at the top of this article when I said you can theoretically use any character and do well? Lil' Ann, bless her, is the exception to the rule. Her Blitz Gun requires you to be so close to enemies that, unless you get the drop on them, you'll probably be killed because she lacks range. Her Whirling Blades gadget and Vortex Wallop Ultimate also require you to get up close and personal, leading to a lot of deaths as you desperately try and fail to close the gap.
