Twilight Towers unit tier list (September 2026)

Twilight Towers unit tier list (September 2026)

Finding mergeable resources can take time, but as soon as you've unlocked them all, this Twilight Towers unit tier list can hopefully help you make the most of them.

There seems to be no end to, well, endless waves of enemies charging into some form of portal with no rhyme or reason. You always have to defend yourself just because, and somehow, there's always a wide range of towers, each one with very, very specific tasks, that can help you do just that.

Such is the beauty of tower defence, and in Twilight Towers, you deploy your towers across a grid, but with merge elements thrown in. You'll start out in a small patch of land with buildings that generate resources for you, until you eventually expand, build more structures, and merge resources to make bigger resources and build the aforementioned towers.

Not all towers are created equal, though, which is where our Twilight Towers unit tier list comes in.

Thankfully, there aren't too many towers that might overwhelm you yet at the moment, but it does take a long time before you can unlock them all. The thing is, the towers here aren't obtainable via a summons pool or whatnot. Instead, you'll need to actually FIND the base resource that you'll then merge together to eventually build a tower.

S Tier

clocktower description and stats Clocktower

Personally, I love support towers the most in any tower defence. There's a reason why healers are often the most sought-after units in RPGs and MMOs, after all.

In Twilight Towers, there's only one support tower at the moment, and that's the Clocktower. This effectively boosts adjacent towers, so a properly placed formation on the grid can make or break a run, I'd say.

Just bear in mind that the Clocktower can only buff adjacent tiles in each cardinal direction, speeding up that tower (or dragon!) in a cross formation.

A Tier

spell cannon description and stats Spell Cannon

It's no surprise that the basic Spell Cannon ranks so highly on this Twilight Towers unit tier list. It's the very first tower you unlock, and it's a fantastic all-purpose tower that can attack both ground and flying units. Sources are easily mergeable too, and it offers bonus damage to Twilight Turtles, making your beginning waves an absolute breeze.

Catapult

What I love about the Catapult is that it's got a slow effect, and it's AoE too! The anti-armor is a bonus, but really, the slow effect should be enough to rank it as it is.

3
B Tier

bell tower description and stats Bell Tower

While the Bell Tower is good enough for the beginner stages, by the time you reach Wave 79, it's not going to matter much since it can't hit flying targets - and there will be a LOT of flying targets. It's good against Bog Bugs, though.

Skyshot Tower

This one does attack flying targets, and it's AoE too. I feel like it's still somehow less effective than properly placed Spell Cannon+Clocktower combos, though, hence its ranking.

4
C Tier

crystal obelisk description and stats Crystal Obelisk

I debated whether or not to rank this at the bottom of our Twilight Towers unit tier list, but eventually, despite its huge range, I just feel like it's too slow for its own good, which isn't ideal when you're scrambling to keep your base safe from all the ne'er-do-wells trying to invade it.

Spinshot Turret

This anti-dodge tower is…okay. It's not terrible, but it's not great, either. Honestly, I haven't found the best use for it just yet, because there are simply better towers to place when needed.

And that's it for our Twilight Towers unit tier list! I don't doubt there'll be more towers to be added soon, but for now, I hope this helps you make your way through Fernhollow safe and sound. But just in case you're looking for other rankings - animal-themed ones, to be exact - how about our Ratchet & Clank: Ranger Rumble tier list and Nekomancer tower tier list?
