Control is a highly regarded action-adventure kind of game. In fact, it won numerous Game of the Year awards in 2019. It's one of the more unusual games you'll play and that's part of its wondrous charm.

You play as a woman named Jesse Faden who visits a mysterious building called the Federal Bureau of Control to find out what happened to her brother Dylan. When in this building, the "Director" suddenly kills himself, curiously making Jesse the new Director in an odd twist. She obtains a gun called the "Service Weapon" which reloads automatically and is satisfying to use.

You should take a look at:

She needs to battle through enemies known as the "Hiss", which are essentially like creepy, possessed humans that are scattered around the building. Jesse is incredibly strong-willed and will do whatever it takes to find answers about what happened. Here are a few tips to kick you off on the Switch version of the game.

Take Your Time Shooting

The Service Weapon is both simple yet one of the best guns you'll find in an adventure game. It fires extremely quickly for a pistol and it also has unlimited ammo. It's really a lot of fun to use even with it being the only material weapon in the game.

However, consider firing your shots at a moderate pace. This is because, once you get through your bullets, it takes a couple of seconds to reload, leaving you vulnerable. If you can, try to aim for the sweet spots such as the head of the enemies, and take a couple of shots.

Even if you haven't exhausted your ammo, you'll still reload which is nice. It's just that, sometimes it's easy to just fire away, only for the enemy to still be alive. You can certainly do this but just be prepared to avoid attacks as your weapon reloads.

Be Especially Aware of Your Health

OK, so this essentially goes for a massive majority of the video games in history in that, your character's health matters. Shocking, revolutionary information I know. But, in Control, how you get health is both plentiful but also scarce at the same time.

This is because the only way to gain health is by killing enemies. They drop tiny items that you can consume to restore Jesse's health. When there's plenty of enemies to kill, there will be plenty to go around once you start to lose health.

However, if you're health is pretty low, and there are no enemies around, it can be tough to be prepared for those sudden ambushes by the Hiss. So, just make sure to play a little defense if you need to and try and avoid enemy attacks as much as possible. Even if you take some damage; kill the foes take the goods and just try to stay as healthy as you can. It's a weird balancing act, but you get used to it after a little while.

Take Advantage of the Manipulation Power

The game is called "Control" because not only is the building you're exploring called the Federal Bureau of Control but the fact that Jesse can obtain some impressive powers. She will have the ability to manipulate the world around her and use items in the building as weapons.

You won't get this power until a little later but once you have it, boy is it effective and just a ton of fun to use when battling enemies. This is a great way to quickly take out enemies, even the bigger ones. It's also a good way to defend yourself to a degree as well.

One of the best parts is that you can grab almost anything with your Force-like power to throw at the Hiss in the building. From chairs to tables, displays, and anything else you can think of. And you can unleash these at a pretty quick rate and still be able to use your Service Weapon too. Throwing things at the Hiss and then blasting them with the pistol is satisfying.
