Serania – Path of the Scion is a new text adventure releasing next week

Next week, FableTrees Productions is releasing Serania – Path of the Scion for iOS and Android devices.

It’s a text adventure RPG set in a fantasy world based on Nordic culture, where you play as a villager on the run from the king’s armies who are suddenly hunting you for some reason. You must escape them and uncover bits about your family’s ancestral history in order to understand why they’ve targeted you.

Serania’s world is open, allowing you to explore it freely – albeit in text form – to go on side quests and meet interesting characters who will aid you in your mission.

As a text adventure game, there is obviously a lot of reading involved, but FableTree has organised the narrative to be presented in such a way that you don’t have to read long pages of text. There are roughly 70,000 words of content to play through and 80 locations to discover, meaning that should be plenty of things to do.

Peter Ravnholt is the sole developer at FableTrees Productions, who decided to pool all of his skills into creating Serania – Path of the Scion.

“Sometimes you just can let go of an idea. Text-based games do not have to be tedious to play,” says Ravnholt. “There is much innovation happening in this genre, and here is my take on how to get people immersed in reading and having fun. I feel that I'm just getting started here, and hope to bring more engaging, story-driven games to the players.”

You’ll be able to download Serania – Path of the Scion from the iOS App Store or Google Play for Android on 4th February. The first part of the game is free, but you’ll have to unlock the rest for a premium fee of $3.99.
