When it comes to ROBLOX, creating your own Roblox GFX can really show off your avatar and your creations. Whether you want to showcase a new outfit you’ve put together or a bit or some clothing you are selling, or just look wonderful, ROBLOX GFX is an amazing option to make your avatar look amazing and stand out.

But, what is Roblox GFX, what do you need to create them and what can you do with the graphics you create? We will be exploring all of the possibilities, requirements and how you need to go about creating them. This article should hopefully help you and answer all of your questions.

What is ROBLOX GFX?

Roblox GFX are basically beautiful, realistic images of Roblox avatars - sometimes just one avatar - in environments that look so much better than real Roblox games can currently be. Users love seeing their avatars in a better light, complete with interesting backgrounds and settings, showing off their outfits and friends. These images look like the characters are just hanging out in real life.

What do you need to create a ROBLOX GFX?

When it comes to creating your own Roblox GFX, most people use Blender. Blender is an open-source tool used to create animations and images. You can use it to animate your character and create little scenes.

Blender is free to use and download but does take a powerful computer to run. Having a computer that can run it, to create these images, is one thing that you do need to have. You will also need to be patient when it comes to exporting images, as exporting images will take a lot of time, especially in complex images!

At the end of this article, we will talk about a second, mobile-friendly option that is actually a lot easier, but it will not create images as realistic as the ones in Blender.

How to export your ROBLOX avatar?

When it comes to creating your Roblox GFX, you will need to import your avatar. I am assuming here that you have Roblox installed on the computer you are working on. What you will need to do is open up Roblox Studio - not any of the games, the studio application. Then you will need to select the Baseplate template. If you do not see the Properties and Explorer boxes on the right-hand side of the screen, you will need to expand the “view” tab and make sure they are selected.

From here, you’ll want to hit the Play button under the “Home” tab at the top of the screen. This should load your avatar into a blank world. On the right-hand side of the screen, after your avatar is loaded, you will need to click on the word “Workspace” and find your username. You will then need to right-click your username and press “Export Selection”. Save your avatar somewhere safe, so you can then open it up in Blender.

What about backgrounds?

Once you have your avatar, you probably will want a background to go with it. You do have a couple of options with this. You can either find other creators' backgrounds using the Search feature in the Roblox Studio or you can create your own using the Toolbox in Roblox Studio. It’s up to you to tinker around and figure out what works best! You can find lots of background creators on Instagram if you are looking for one.

It is worth noting that if you want a background, you can actually export it with your avatar. Instead of exporting your avatar on its own, you can import your background of choice into the scene, move your avatar so that it is not on top of the background (but do keep it close to the scene) and then save them as a ".obj" together. This will be much easier to upload and tinker with within Blender itself.

Using Blender

When it comes to using Blender to create your Roblox GFX, there are so many things to keep in mind. From exporting your avatar and possibly your background, you’ll need to open these up in Blender itself. From there, there are a lot of options. You can use rigs to position your character, move them by hand, change around the lighting, add different filters and so much more. Blender is a powerful tool used for animation and design, after all, so it’s dabbling in the world of animation.

If you are interested in the rigging side of things, PicklePie has a bunch of rigs that you can download and tutorials on how to specifically use them.

As you develop more knowledge in Blender, through courses and tutorials, you should be better suited to understand what you can do in Blender. It is a long process and does take a lot of time and you will probably be better off following step-by-step video tutorials for exactly what you’d like to create.

What if I want to make ROBLOX GFX on mobile?

Now, if you are looking for a quick and easy way to create Roblox GFX on mobile, you can do so! Many developers have created Photoshoot games, which you can find by searching for the word Photoshoot on ROBLOX. There, using your mobile device, you can go to greenscreen areas, select poses, and then take a screenshot on your mobile device.

Two good Photoshoot games, for example, are Tiger ® Photo-shoot Center and GFX Studio Green Screen. There, you can also select a bunch of different poses for your character, which can really help!

Once you have your character all set up, you can take a screenshot with a greenscreen background. This image then can be cropped and uploaded to a photo editing app of your choice. A popular app often used is IBS Paint. In these apps, you can select your avatar and remove the green screen behind it, uploading your own background images in place of it.

Though these graphics are often not as amazing as the ones done in Blender, it’s a great quick fix for those who don’t have a powerful computer or who aren’t interested in learning all of the tools that Blender has on offer.
