Apex Legends mobile ports could be coming as soon as Q2 2021, will soft-launch in China first
Electronic Arts has hinted that the mobile ports of its popular FPS battle royale Apex Legends could be coming to iOS and Android as soon as later in the spring, and that it’ll soft-launch in China before coming to other regions.
The game had previously been rumoured to launch at the end of 2020, but plans have now delayed that into the first half of this year.
The report of Apex Legends launching in the summer comes from Twitter user Daniel Ahmad (@ZhugeEX), a senior analyst at Niko Partners who covers the video games market in China and Asia.
They write: “Japan is the 2nd largest market for Apex. One of reasons behind Switch ver. (Switch is big in Japan). Apex Legends Mobile to have a soft launch in next 3 to 4 months. Plan to launch in China once approved. Expand Apex Legends franchise + reach new audience with both.”
Apex Legends has also been announced to be coming to the Nintendo Switch next month, and so it comes as no surprise at just how hard EA is expanding the Apex Legends franchise to new people with the new ports the same way PUBG or Call of Duty has also grown into the mobile market.

As pointed out by our sister site PocketGamer.biz last year, EA is very positive about expanding further into the mobile market, with CEO Andrew Wilson saying: “unlike many people in the mobile industry, we've built a very strong and profitable business.”
