AFK Journey teams up with Digimon to introduce fan-favourite characters as playable heroes

• AFK Journey is teaming up with Digimon for a new collab
• Starting later this month, it introduces fan-favourites Taichi and Yamato as well as their partners
• You can also nab plenty of login rewards, exclusive cosmetics and other goodies

It would seem that the folks at Digimon have really clued themselves into the continuous popularity of mobile, if their latest announcement is any indication. Yes, as you might have seen from the headline, Digimon will arrive in the world of AFK Journey starting August 18th and running all the way until September 14th!

The collaboration sees fan-favourite characters Taichi and Yamato end up in the world of AFK Journey. Aided by both their partner Digimon and the Magister, they'll need to deal with the villainous Hypofiends standing in the way of their return home. By making your way through this crossover storyline, you'll not only find a new story for veterans and newcomers to the franchise, but also get some pretty nifty rewards.

Summer Wars

As you might expect, this collab also introduces two new playable characters, or pairs in this case. Both Taichi and Agumon, as well as Yamato and Gabumon, will debut, with their own specific skills and ultimate abilities that really showcase the ties between trainer and Digimon.

Coming off the back of the launch of Digimon Up, it's clear that there's a new push to get Digimon onto mobile. And why not? Digimon arguably pioneered the video game format just as much as Pokémon did, and the digital world, as well as the growing popularity of the internet, really defines the franchise's early success.

With everything from the aforementioned rewards to exclusive headgear and outfits, as well as rewards just for logging in, it seems to be well worth checking in on the AFK Journey x Digimon collab even if you're a newcomer to either series!
