Wasteland, or WASTELAND!, to portray it with the same level of excitement that developer Benfont Limited has opted for, is an upcoming shooter that's heading for iOS on March 1st, with pre-orders open now.

It takes place following a decade where the world had been in a constant state of war. At one stage, someone unleashed the terrifying Mutents upon the world. They are giant insects that not only boast increased size but also intelligence and movement speed, making them a real threat.

Following their arrival in the world, humanity struggled to contain the Mutents and effectively destroyed the planet in an attempt to eliminate them. Now, 20 years later very few people remain. So, it'll be up to you to step out into the titular wasteland and gun down as many of these oversized creepy crawlies as possible, in the name of revenge.

WASTELAND itself then is a first-person shooter that's designed to be played in portrait mode as you explore its huge world in search of Mutents to slay. There will be several variants of these creatures to kill including giant spiders and mosquitoes. You can check out some gameplay in the embedded tweet above.

According to the developer, it will offer hours of gameplay for players to enjoy once they've completed the tutorial. Alongside numerous variants of enemies to face, there will be six weapons to utilise to destroy them. The game will also support controllers, good news for fans of shooters who can't get along with touch screen controls.

WASTELAND! is available to pre-order now over on the App Store ahead of its expected launch on March 1st. It will be a premium title that costs $4.99.
