UnderKnight is an action adventure rogue-lite for iOS and Android that offers one finger gameplay

The Jetpack Collective and Fundamentally Games have announced their second game. It's a rogue-lite action-adventure game called UnderKnight One Thumb Warrior, developed by Cornish developer TruePlayers. If you're on Android, you can play it now, as it's currently in Early Access. UnderKnight is also coming to iOS, but it's not available just yet.

Played in a portrait orientation, UnderKnight sees you battling against hordes of increasingly powerful enemies vying to cut you down. That means you'll need to be on your toes, ready to use a mixture of swipes and taps to dodge incoming attacks and strike back with your own strikes.

Enemy attacks are displayed by yellow cones of different shapes and sizes. When they switch to red, that's when your foe is about to strike, so you'll want to roll away before that happens. The key to your success, then, lies in your timing. Successfully dodging attacks before following up with a flurry of strikes will keep you nice and healthy whilst thinning the enemy hordes.

But there's a little more depth than simply ducking and stabbing. UnderKnight also allows you to kit out your hero with different weapons, armour, and special abilities. New gear is unlocked by beating new missions, so it might not be easy.

Discussing the game, Adrian Ruiz-Langan, CEO at TruePlayers, said: “Jetpack collective is the perfect fit for UnderKnight and our ambition to create a living game for a broad audience. With their support, we’ve been able to focus more intensely on development, ensuring UnderKnight has a long lifetime, using constant updates and events to keep our audience coming back for more.”

UnderKnight is now available on Google Play, where it's currently in Early Access. It is free-to-play, and you can download it using the links below. The game will also release on the App Store sometime in the future, so stay tuned to Pocket Gamer for future updates.
