The Wrapp - JoJo's Bizarre Adventure sticks around and we continue celebrating ducks

Happy Friday and a warm welcome back to The Wrapp, our regular feature where we chat about our weekend gaming plans. I'm getting a sense of deja vu this time, with both JoJo's Bizarre Adventure: Golden Spirit and ducks popping up once again. Maybe there's something in the water?

This week has been a busy one for me, what with the build-up to Gamescom next week. But I’ve still found time to have a go at Dissidia Duellum Final Fantasy and write some guides for it! And in all honesty it’s… okay. I can definitely see the appeal, but half of the reason we wrote those guides was that everything was just a little bit obtuse in classic Square Enix fashion.

Fortunately, now it’s a straight shot to Gamescom next week, and there are plenty of great games I’ve got lined up to demo. That includes some major names we’ve been covering in the past, so watch this space!

Okay, everyone is talking about it, including you. Yes, you! The person reading this, you're talking about it because I'm telling you about it. There are tons of releases happening on mobile, and you're wondering which of them to play, but you're already talking about the answer. It's been a long time coming, but we've got the biggest, baddest, and most bodacious JoJo mobile game that is just waiting for you to master it. So stop talking about it and start playing it! All those Stands aren't going to stand for themselves!

It's all about JoJo's Bizarre Adventure: Golden Spirit this week. It centres around the best part of the series, which is Part 5 (no argument necessary), but allows you to bring characters from all over the timeline to fight, strategy-style. Let's start planning, because it's all too bizarre!

I’m spending my weekend defending against the undead in Nekomancer, because the protagonist kitty took a peek at a forbidden tome and ended up unleashing the Underworld’s horrors by accident. If a single undead soul makes it out into the land of the living, he’ll lose his job, and that’s pretty heartless, so I’m not going to let that happen to the poor thing.

I’m also still trying to keep up with my dailies in Jojo's Bizarre Adventure: Golden Spirit, because now that I have Jotaro in my roster, I need to make the most of his SSR-ness - that and the fact that I’m not usually this lucky when it comes to the summons pool, so I want to revel in the feeling of having pulled an actual good pull for a little while longer.

In a general gaming capacity, I am very excited to try out a little game called Slayblade that was released on Steam this week. It's a throwback to the Beyblade franchise and has a fantastic name, let's be honest. I shall be naming my blade “Queen."

For my mobile fix, I will be doing almost the opposite. I am unsure where it came from, but I have had the urge to play a detective game recently. And what better way to enjoy this genre than with Duck Detective? I might even make it a double header and play both entries in the series.

I plan to play a bit more Ratchet & Clank: Ranger Rumble this weekend since I want to unlock the last game mode to know I've seen everything. I shared my thoughts on the soft launch version recently, and I don't see my opinion changing drastically. It's good fun and has echoes of the main series, but it either needs to do more to stand on its own or double down on what makes Ratchet & Clank great, which is difficult to do when you move a single-player experience over to an arena shooter.
