The Paper Bride 4, the latest entry in the Chinese puzzle horror franchise, launches for mobile in a few weeks

The fourth entry in the horror puzzler series The Paper Bride, The Paper Bride 4: Bound Love, is due out very soon for mobile devices, dropping for both Android and iOS on May 19th! Having launched on PC a few weeks back, this entry, and the entire series in fact, is based upon ancient Chinese folklore and takes you through a complex and terrifying exploration of love and horror alike.

Most of the globe outside of China hasn’t heard much about The Paper Bride series, which isn’t entirely surprising given it’s also a pretty indie franchise. For those of you unfamiliar, these games take you on horrifying journeys into various different settings set within the modern day. Despite this modern setting, most of these puzzles revolve around Chinese folklore and mythology, so I hope you’ve brushed up on your history!

Story-wise, details are slim even within the trailer. Given the name and a mention of a break-up, however, it seems safe to assume that love and relationships are the primary themes of this particular entry. What that entails is impossible to determine with the small details we have right now, and is likely being kept vague before the game officially launches as this series is particularly story-driven.

Gameplay-wise, The Paper Bride 4 is a first-person puzzle exploration game with a lot of horror elements. Expect lots of jumpscares, eerie surroundings, and unnerving audio to immerse you within this spooky world while you investigate every nook and cranny to progress the story forward.

If a scary romp through a decrepit and ghost-filled ancient Chinese town sounds like a good time to you, The Paper Bride 4: Bound Love will launch for mobile devices on May 19th. In the meantime, check out the trailer featured above for a look at what to expect!
