Strategy RPGs such as Lord of the Rings: Heroes of Middle-earth require players to embark upon a tough and entailing path to unite the kingdoms and reclaim the ONE Ring that has the power to rewrite history. One of the most asked questions by new players starting their adventures is regarding the “best team” one can have that can serve as the end goal for them.

While there is no singular best team, due to the nature of the game and different varieties of content available, it’s very much a fact that there exist different “best teams” that perform extremely well in different areas.

ROLES TO CONSIDER WHILE BUILDING A TEAM

In this guide for the best team compositions, we have considered a few factors while determining which characters will end up in the team. This is to maintain decorum in the team compositions and form a team that excels at the given task handed to them. Players can expect different characters to be included in multiple teams, depending on their usability and criteria fulfilment. The factors that are taken into consideration have been further elaborated upon to provide readers with the enlightenment behind our reasonings. Here are the main factors:

  • Playability – This factor takes into account the usability of the teams in different game modes presented, including both PvE and PvP areas. The more areas where the team is viable, the higher its rating is going to be. Plug & Playability of the team also enhances their ratings due to the ease of focusing on a singular team for multiple content.
  • Raids – This factor takes into account the amount of damage the team does in Raids. This being one of the most crucial areas of the game, a team that excels at raiding is also synonymous with teams that generally perform well in other content as well.
  • Meta – This factor takes into account the meta rankings of the team and its included characters, particularly when it comes to PvP game modes. Meta is an ever-changing factor; hence, we are going to be more lenient towards teams that perform well here.
  • Time Efficiency – This factor takes into account the time taken by the teams to farm resources.
  • Accessibility – This factor considers the accessibility of the entire team composition as a whole. This means the characters included in the team should be easy to collect and summon. Consider this as the factor that determines whether a team is more skewed towards a F2P experience or not.

That covers all the factors we have checked out before making this list of the best team comps to use in Lord of the Rings: Heroes of Middle-earth. Hit the big blue button below to view the teams along with explanations that weigh in on their pros and cons!

1
The Elven Team

  • Lord Elrond
  • Elrohir
  • Elladan
  • Legolas
  • Naremiri
  • The Elven team is highly regarded as one of the best teams in the game, due to the powerful abilities they are blessed with. Elves, as a character class in general, are very hard to get due to limited avenues to obtain them and no real farming opportunities. They are quite unique with their diverse set of skills such as Naremiri who can heal multiple allies at once, on top of providing a Protection and Counterattack buff.

Lord Elrond, another top-tier healer, is also part of the Elves team. He is the only unique character that has the ability to revive a slain ally. Elrohir has one of the highest DPS potentials in the game, provided you pair him with a Taunt debuffer such as Elladan. Sadly, the Elves are going to be rated down in the Accessibility rankings as a majority of the Elves are obtainable through purchasing packs via microtransactions.

    2
    The Shadow Brethren

  • Mauhur
  • Nurraz
  • Ugluk
  • Dunhar
  • Ghazh Ironhide
  • The beauty of the Shadow squad is that you can build them to reap the benefits from the Dark zone and get extra rewards. On top of the extra stats they receive as part of synergy, the characters included in this team are also disruptive as they exude tons of crowd-control effects. The deadly duo of Mauhur and Ugluk are going to be the highlight of this team composition. If you lack them both, do not bother trying to move on with this team as you won’t be able to trigger the Isengard effect. Ugluk is a great defensive tank, while Mauhur is a great single-target damage dealer who can also self-sustain.

    3
    The Soldiers of Light

  • Lady Eowyn
  • Eothain
  • Strider
  • Eomer
  • Aeldred
  • The Light team is one of the best team compositions for the campaign stages. They are also one of the easiest characters to obtain, as a majority of them are given as F2P rewards and/or farmable through story stages. Lady Eowyn is a starter hero that also acts as the core of the team. She can provide the Might buff to all squad members, and can help amplify damage dealt to enemies. Strider is perhaps one of the best early-mid-game AOE-targeted damage dealers, being blessed with powerful damage multipliers.

Eothain stands to be one of the best tanks in the game, especially for a Light team. He can apply the Provoke debuff to enemies for 3 turns, and boosts the turn meter of all allies by 15%. Even his basic ability has a chance to inflict Expose debuff on enemies, amplifying the damage dealt to enemies. Aeldred acts as the core healer of the team, providing bursts of healing at a time.

    4
    The Haradrim

  • Bekelu
  • Robel
  • Tibeb the Sage
  • Wubete
  • Yeftu
  • The Haradrim is going to be one of the most dominating team compositions in PvP areas of the game. These characters are going to be the premier heroes to get if you’re looking to spend in the game, as a majority of them require a hefty investment. Only two of the characters are farmable, that too in late game stages. This team is best known for their offensive capabilities, with Bekelu leading the charge with his barrage of single-target damage-dealing abilities. He is also able to deal bonus damage if the enemies have no Boons.

Tibeb the Sage is going to be the core of the Haradrim team as he shares the passives of all characters with the Haradrim tag. The passive allows all the characters to deal 10% bonus damage and gain a 15% block chance. Further, he is also able to heal all squad members on top of giving the Fortitude buff for 1 turn.

    5
    Road to Rivendell

  • Frodo Baggins
  • Merry Brandybuck
  • Pippin Took
  • Sam Gamgee
  • Strider
  • The Road to Rivendell stands to be one of the best teams to build for Raids. They make use of niche mechanics such as being able to put Blind debuffs, remove harvested buffs, and deal a ton of AOE-targeted damage to enemies. Successively, they all are quite easy to get. On the downside, the members of this team composition are mostly Hobbits who do not see much play in the rest of the game. Also, you would need all of them to be at high base star levels promoted to be able to clear higher-level chapters of Raid.

Okay, so these are the best fellowships that you can compose in LOTR Heroes of Middle-earth. Those of you who are fans of similar titles will be excited to know that we have the best PVE teams for Warcraft Rumble, and the best PVP teams that you can use in Warcraft Rumble as well.
