A brand new fantasy-themed idle RPG has launched in open beta for Android. Tale of Sword, an idler with a cliché but enticing heroic adventure backdrop, seeks to differentiate itself from the other hundreds of idle RPGs out there by utilizing a comic book-esque style with a tinge of anime to boot, alongside a simple and easy-to-enjoy style of play that doesn’t require much commitment.

Tale of Sword is a newcomer to the scene, and despite strong competition with the likes of AFK Arena or Tap Titans in terms of idle RPGs with an anime theme, hopes to carve out its own niche using a very distinct visual style. This style is certainly anime-like, but the developer Loongcheer Game has used inspiration from 80-90s Japanese comic books rather than just simply anime series, and it really makes the game’s graphics pop in a way that few other anime games do.

Gameplay-wise, you know more or less what to expect. You’ll gather up different heroes and put them into your party where you’ll then engage in idle combat. While you can certainly take a more active role in said combat and take part in small mini-games, this is first and foremost an idle RPG, so expect to mostly enjoy progressing with the game running in the background of your day-to-day life.

And as expected of an idler, there’s not too much going on in the plot department either. It’s a pretty typical story of heroes embarking on an epic journey to save the world, but that’s about it. Needless to say, this isn’t a game that’s expecting you to commit a lot of time into it and is instead seeking to become an app you can keep running 24/7 and log into here and there to progress and watch your numbers go up.

If that sounds good to you, or if you’re just a fan of the genre in general, you can download the open beta client for free at the link below!
