SlimeClimb takes you straight to the top in a subterranean world of action platforming

  • SlimeClimb sees you taking on the dense dungeons and caverns of Subterra
  • Leap, bounce and jump to avoid obstacles and take on deadly bosses
  • This solo-developed effort is currently in open beta, with Testflight coming to iOS

The humble platformer used to dominate consoles, but in previous years it seems to have faded into obscurity amongst AAA developers. But over in the world of indies, it remains a thriving genre, and one that stuck out recently was the solo-developed, Terraria-inspired action platformer SlimeClimb.

Boasting a fully F2P model, SlimeClimb sees you, well, take a guess. As a humble slime, you'll bounce upwards in the underground world of Subterra, avoiding obstacles and enemies as you go. But watch out because it's not just sawblades and fire you'll need to keep an eye out for. Powerful boss monsters are also intent on halting your ascent.

In my opinion, it's not hard to see another significant source of inspiration for SlimeClimb in that old indie icon Super Meatboy. But that's not a bad thing at all, and SlimeClimb has very clearly been built from the ground up for mobile devices with its portrait mode-style levels. And for an indie-level project, the amount of polish is quite impressive.

SlimeClimb also brings one of the latest trendy inclusions for many indie releases, which is a creator mode. It lets you create your own levels and share them with others. Now, while this isn't exactly innovative it's a very welcome inclusion sure to extend the longevity of SlimeClimb if it gains some traction.

You can try SlimeClimb now in open beta over on Google Play, or sign up for the iOS version on Testflight!
