The king of the music/rhythm game and inventor of DanceDanceRevolution, Konami, is tapping its fingers on the iPhone's touchscreen again with another pop song pundit, Rhyme Player.

This new rhythm game differentiates itself from DDR by making more use of the song's lyrics.

A karaoke-style stream of lyrics float up the screen, requiring you to tap along as the pop stars power it out.

Five songs are included, and we suspect more will become available through an in-app purchase system.

It's a short track list at the moment, but it's got some top artists on there (and Lady Gaga, too).

  • Lady Gaga: Just Dance
  • Lifehouse: First Time
  • Jackson 5: ABC
  • Bell Biv DeVoe: Poison
  • The Cover Girls: Show Me

In good Konami style, however, Rhyme Player is currently only available in the US. We'll keep you posted as to any news on a worldwide release, but transatlantic finger tappers can hit the App Store button below to go and check it out.

Spanner Spencer
Yes. Spanner's his real name, and he's already heard that joke you just thought of. Although Spanner's not very good, he's quite fast, and that seems to be enough to keep him in a regular supply of free games and away from the depressing world of real work.
