Tony Hawk, or Timmy Pigeon?

  • PushSB is a recently updated skateboarding sim for iOS and Android
  • It promises a more realistic take on the genre with intuitive touch controls
  • At the moment it's still early doors, but PushSB seems to have caught the eye of skate-loving players

Skateboarding is a popular subject for gaming. Given that the potential to break a bone in real life trying to pull off some of these stunts is exceptionally high, that's not exactly surprising. But we haven't seen as much skating make its way to mobile, which is what makes the recently updated PushSB so interesting.

Visually speaking, PushSB is not much to write home about. But, this indie skateboarding sim boasts precision controls for pulling off a variety of simple tricks, such as manuals, power slides and grinds. All of which is represented in surprisingly realistic, if low-poly, graphics.

While it may not be the next Tony Hawk for mobile (remember Shred Session?), PushSB caught our eye and has been sitting at #11 for a good while now. It's indicative that PushSB has caught onto an audience that is hungry for a more realistic take on the skating genre.

Skate, too

PushSB certainly isn't a stop-gap measure either, as developer surfing_pools has included promises of many other key features set to arrive in PushSB. The most recent update already brought new maps, as well as a variety of mechanics and UI updates.

I think what will take PushSB from indie curiosity to something that might be a bona fide success will be more frequent updates and a bit more polish. At the moment, it has all the basics that you'd expect from a skating sim, and the inclusion of touch-based controls makes it seem like a 'made for mobile' experience. So with that in mind, we'll be keeping one eye on it to see where PushSB goes from here.

In the meantime, if you're going to give PushSB some more time to mature, why not check out our list of the best sports sims on Android for more options in other fields of athletics?
