  • PolyFootball is the latest pitch into the world of sports simulation
  • Take on a familiar management setup with an added graphical upgrade
  • Enjoy simple, straightforward sports simulation on iOS

It's rather notable that, after so many years watching sports simulators shooting to be bigger, better and graphically more stunning, we've seen something of a trend sliding backwards in some regards. Not in the sense of gameplay, but definitely in the style of presentation, as PolyFootball represents.

Now, gameplay-wise, PolyFootball is not about reinventing the wheel here. If you've played Football Manager or Retro Bowl, you're already familiar with what PolyFootball is all about. Manage your team off the pitch and make trades to build up a world-beating American football team, then take your skills to the gridiron in pursuit of the fabled PolyBowl trophy.

Where it does differ is in the aesthetics, with PolyFootball squarely focused on delivering a simple and stylised presentation. It could be argued that if you're tired of playing around with the crunchy pixel graphics of Retro Bowl, you might find that PolyFootball offers the slight graphical upgrade you're looking for.

Touchdown!

Aside from the obvious, it seems that everything you'd want from a football simulator is here. Individual stats and attributes? Check. Trades? Check. Detailed pre-game strategy? Check. I think if nothing else, PolyFootball indicates that players are on the lookout for something that can satisfy their taste for fun sports simulation without breaking the bank (or melting their phone).

So if all that sounds good, keep an eye out for PolyFootball coming soon to iOS with an expected June 30th release date, according to the store page.

In the meantime, if you want to explore what else is on offer to the budding John Maddens out there, why not dig into our list of the top 25 best sports games on iOS and Android for everything from fun and fast-paced arcade action to intriguing granular simulation, sure to satisfy any fan!
