Pokemon Masters Ex's latest update introduces Sync Pairs, events and a Gem giveaway for the New Year

DeNA's Pokemon Masters Ex is celebrating the new year with a bunch of updates that include new Sync Pairs, story content and even a huge Gem giveaway. By logging in between now and January 7th, players will be entered into a draw to win up to 60,000 Gems.

Five people will receive the grand prize of 60k, while other players can receive the following:

  • 30 players – 12,000 Gems
  • 100 players – 6000 Gems
  • 1000 players – 3000 Gems
  • Everyone else – between 300 and 1000 Gems

Elsewhere, players can add New Years versions of Volkner & Electivire and Sabrina & Chingling to their roster through the dedicated Seasonal Scout, which will stick around until January 17th. Meanwhile, Sonia & Yamper are also available in their Seasonal Scout until January 7th.

But there's more. Sygna Suit Cynthia (Renegade) & Girantina have also arrived in Pasio. They are a Ghost-Type Sync Pair with access to the move Ghost Wish, which creates a Ghost Zone that, unsurprisingly, boosts the attack of Ghost-Type attacks. As a Masters Sync Pair, the duo also has a powerful passive called Sinnoh Flag Bearer, which boosts the power of the players' team.

Beyond the new Sync Pairs, players will also find the Villain Event Prelude - Galactic Nightmare, which runs from today until January 12th. It sees players thwarting Team Galactic's attempts to steal Cynthia's Pokemon by battling against them. Doing so will reward them with tickets, which players can exchange for items like 5-Star Sinnoh Scout Tickets.

Finally, a new story event called 'New Year and New Friends' will run from today until January 17th. It features Sabrina and Volkner in their New Year attire as they take part in the New Year's Battle Tournament.

Pokemon Masters Ex is available now on the App Store and Google Play. It is a free-to-play game with in-app purchases.
