Pokemon Go is celebrating the upcoming Pokemon World Championships with a ton of in-game activities and rewards
We’re not even halfway through August but Niantic keeps dropping new content for Pokémon Go. In case you haven’t heard, the Pokémon Go x Amazon Prime Gaming bundle went live yesterday. Also, if you have seen the August calendar, you’ll know that the Pokémon World Championships is going to begin soon and 2022 will mark the first year where the AR game features.
Between August 18th and 21st, the Pokémon World Championships will be held at the ExCel Convention Centre in London, England. This year, top-ranking Pokémon Go players from all over the world will also be in the mix, where they will fight for the coveted title of the 2022 Pokémon Go World Champion! The winner will receive a ton of rewards including an in-game World Champion 2022 outfit and pose. The whole event can be viewed live on Twitch.
Players not part of the tournament won’t be missing out either as Niantic has a lot of in-game events planned for everyone. An in-game 2022 Worlds Tee will be available via entering a code that is shared during the livestream and on social media. Participants can get an extra t-shirt by visiting the PokéStop at the Pokémon Go booth during the tournament.
To celebrate the massive competition, the World Championships 2022 Pikachu will also make its debut in Pokémon GO. It can be found in the wild but also via Timed Researches which features other rewards like an Elite Fast TM and an Elite Charge TM. Throughout the event, battling others is encouraged as everyone can participate in 50 matches per day in the Go Battle League while also winning 3x Stardust for all victories. Last but not the least, the Item Shop will feature several items inspired by Galar, which is the theme for this year’s championship.
