Pokémon Go’s January 2022 Community Day will feature Spheal the Clap Pokémon
Pokémon Go’s December Community Day was an absolute blast. With Pokémon showing up from the past two years in the wild, in raids, and in eggs, players who missed capturing these cool pocket monsters finally had the chance to do so once again. And now, the cycle restarts with a new Pokémon for the New Year. In January 2022, Spheal will feature!
Mark January 16th on your calendars because the Clap Pokémon – Spheal is coming! Between 11:00 am and 5:00 pm, Spheal will appear more frequently in the wild and with some luck on your side, you may find a shiny one as well. Trainers also have lots of bonuses to enjoy throughout the day. There will be 3x Catch XP for successfully catching Spheal and any Incense and Lure Modules activated during the event will last for three hours.
Evolving Spheal and Sealeo into Walrein during, or up to two hours after the event, will allow the Pokémon to learn two exclusive moves - Charged Attack Icicle Spear and Fast Attack Powder Snow. Icicle Spear is a new move releasing next year for Walrein. It is a low-energy Charged Attack that deals 60 damage to opponents.
The Community Day Special Research Story, which costs $1.00 USD, gives players access to an exclusive research story called The Spheal Deal. The tickets will go on sale at a later date. They are non-refundable and will not include an in-game medal. Like all Community Days, a special one-time-purchase Community Day Box consisting of 50 Ultra Balls, five Super Incubators, five Lucky Eggs and an Elite Fast TM, will be available for 1,280 PokéCoins.
