Taking aim at castle defence

PandaMania bow and arrows its way onto the App Store

When it comes to competitive App Store genres such as castle defence, you need a unique selling point to gain any attention.

Kung Fu Panda has already been done of course, but a Kung Fu Panda archer whose magical Fu Manchu moustache has been stolen - that's surely layered enough to still be unique.

That's what FizzPow Games is hoping, of course, with PandaMania: Legend of the Fu Manchu, which has just been released.

It has the Panda defending itself against waves of progressively faster and harder opponents who want destroy his tower. There are 50 levels spread across five environments.

As you defeat them, you're awarded points - more points for more accuracy - which you can use to upgrade your weapons with better arrows, fire arrows, and the like.

The gameplay feels a bit like Bloons, too, with the arc of the arrow's flight combined with the ability to hold your fire to build up power. There's also a rage meter, which when triggered fires a storm of arrows over the entire battlefield.

You can see how the game works in the following video.
