Qookka Games have launched their latest project in Singapore, Malaysia, Hong Kong, and Macau. Currently only available in Traditional Chinese, Orient Arcadia is a hero collection role-playing game that is based upon the classic high-fantasy setting of the Three Kingdoms era. Of course, Orient Arcadia takes plenty of liberties with the setting and introduces some magical elements to the mix as well.

If you aren’t familiar with the Three Kingdoms style, it’s a setting that has been approached by a few other popular mobile games in the past as well such as Three Kingdoms: Overlord or even Dynasty Warriors: Unleashed. This setting is loosely based on historical Chinese feudal-era events, but is typically embellished with lots of heroic characters and infamous duels. For comparison, you can think of it a lot like the Edo, or samurai-based, era of Japanese history.

As for Orient Arcadia, they choose to embellish with the introduction of tons of magical abilities and fantastical creatures. Along with an anime-style aesthetic and some pretty darn cool depictions of the Three Kingdoms heroes, there’s a lot to love about what Qookka has chosen to do with the setting beyond what is normally done.

Your team composition will go a long way in this one as is the case with most gacha RPGs, so let’s go over some of the absolute basics that you’ll need to keep in mind. Firstly, each character will be from a camp. Think of these as your elements, which are Wu, Shu, Wei, or Neutral. Then, each character will have a traditional RPG role such as Tank, Attacker, Assault, and Support.

What makes the team comp side of things even more interesting is that your chosen characters can receive relationship buffs based on how they interacted within the time period. For example, Lu Bu and Chen Gong would receive a buff to their stats, as Chen Gong was infamously Lu Bu’s best advisor. Things like this really help to flesh out the setting and make your team feel more alive.

And finally, there is a story within the game, and a lot of it will follow the Three Kingdoms lore, but there are tons of touches of fantastical monsters and magic users and the like to liven things up. If you’re a fan of the setting or just looking for a good gacha RPG, Orient Arcadia might be the one for you.

If you’d like to give it a go, you can do so at either of the links below as long as you live within the previously mentioned regions.
