Rhythm-action sequel O2Jam S is currently making a racket on the App Store.

Whereas its predecessor O2Jam U was more of a traditional Guitar Hero-esque affair, this follow-up from South Korean developer MOMO has headed off in a slightly more violent direction.

Instead of having to pay attention to notes cascading down your display - like in pretty much every other rhythm-action game out there - you must focus on coloured orbs that whiz towards two discs situated in the lower half of the screen in O2Jam S.

You have to tap these discs whenever an orb enters, with every correctly timed thumb press producing a musical note.

This time around, however, the dev has introduced a new mechanic: a flick of your thumb will send orbs shooting towards a target at the top of the screen, with accurate hits translating into bonus points.

You can download O2Jam S for your iPhone for £1.99 / $2.99 now.

James pivoted to video so hard that he permanently damaged his spine, which now doubles as a Cronenbergian mic stand. If the pictures are moving, he's the one to blame.
