Genius animator Hayao Miyazaki has slammed the iPad and its users in the July issue of Neppuu, a pamphlet published by Studio Ghibli – the studio that produced Spirited Away and other classic Miyazaki films.

"For me, there is no feeling of admiration or no excitement whatsoever. It's disgusting. On trains, the number of those people doing that strange masturbation-like gesture is multiplying."

Apple needn't feel too offended, though, Miyazaki is notoriously technophobic. In 2008, he revealed on Kirainet that he doesn't own a computer, fax machine, or DVD player. Nor has he ever played a video game, other than computer version of Shogi. To his evident disgust, it beat him. “The PC checks all approaches. That’s not fair.”

Studio Ghibli's first game, Ni no Kuni, is coming to DS and PS3 in 2011. See what it looks like in the video below.
