Finding controller compatible games with the Razer Nexus app

Finding controller compatible games with the Razer Nexus app
More Next Level Gaming in association with Razer Right Arrow

At the time of writing, neither the App Store nor Google Play allows you to search for games that are compatible with controllers. Apple has created a list of some titles you can enjoy with a pad, but it's hardly exhaustive. Beyond that, sites like ours often post lists of excellent games you can enjoy with a controller, but we can't include everything.

Razer is looking to provide a solution to this problem with the Nexus app. Though very much still in development, the Razer Nexus app has lofty ambitions to create an extensive list of every controller-compatible game on iOS and Android. Its current list is incomplete but still includes a swathe of fantastic games you can enjoy with a controller like the Razer Kishi V2, with each conveniently listed by a sub-category. So if you fancy trying a new action or racing game, you can simply head to that section and search through the games on offer.

Tapping the game's link will take you to its store page, where you can download it and enjoy playing with a controller. Once installed, you can launch the game from within the Razer Nexus app. This allows you to access your whole library in one place rather than swiping through several pages of apps on your phone if, like me, you download far too many games.

As mentioned, it's important to remember the Razer Nexus app is a work in progress. The current list of controller-compatible games isn't complete, though it is regularly updated. However, the app is free and offers more functionality than listing controller-compatible games.

Live streaming

If you fancy yourself as a bit of a streamer, then the Razer Nexus app is here to help. Using the app, you can stream to either Facebook Live or YouTube. Simply tap the broadcast button on the top right-hand side of the screen and then select your preferred platform. Once you're signed into your app of choice, you're ready to start streaming.

Screenshots and recording

If you're not into the idea of streaming but still want to capture some of your best moments, then the Nexus app and Kishi V2 controller can help. Using the integrated button on the controller, you can either snap a screenshot or record your gameplay. It removes the need to hold down a few buttons on your phone to grab a screenshot, replacing it with a simple button click.

Remapping the Kishi V2 and remapping the multifunction buttons

To get the most out of the Razer Kishi V2, you should download the Nexus app. It allows you to get the latest firmware updates for the controller, ensuring it's always performing at its best. On top of that, the app also allows you to remap the multifunction buttons, which are found on the top of the controller next to the triggers.

And that's everything you can get from the Nexus app at the moment. Alongside increasing the number of controller-compatible games you can discover through it, Razer also plans to update the app with more features in the future.

You can download the Razer Nexus app for free from the App Store and Google Play.
