What do people want from mobile games?

PocketGamer.biz asks, and it seems they want Snake

What do people want from mobile games?

Our sister site PocketGamer.biz has been keeping the score at the Mobile Games Forum conference, and while they were there, they took the opportunity to chat to the mobile-gamer-on-the-street about what they want in their pocket gamers. The answers weren’t exactly what we expected.

The answers came from a panel of consumers gathered from teenagers and students, who were systematically quizzed about their (mobile) habits and preferences.

Of all the awesome games there are to choose from, it seems the retro classic Snake was a surprise hit. Here’s a cross section of Snake-heavy quotes:

“When I want to play a game, I want to play a game. If there's a lot of introduction, I don't play them. That's why I like Snake. I just want to play.”

“Basically short and simple games are likely to be the most addictive. Snake is probably one of the better ones.”

"Snake is probably my favourite game. It's a really old game, but it's still classic."

Hmmm. To be honest, we were a bit surprised to see a whole slew of Snake clones slithering around the App Store, but perhaps that was astute observation on behalf of the development community. Head on over to PocketGamer.Biz
to see the rest of the panel's answers.

So, what do you want from mobile games? Tell us in the comments section below.

Spanner Spencer
Yes. Spanner's his real name, and he's already heard that joke you just thought of. Although Spanner's not very good, he's quite fast, and that seems to be enough to keep him in a regular supply of free games and away from the depressing world of real work.
