Three opens up orders for mid-range Sony Xperia U - £169.99 on PAYG
U like?
Those that like the transparent strip on the latest Xperia Android smartphones but don't want to break the bank should be interested in knowing that mobile network Three has begun selling Sony's mid-range Xperia U.
Contract prices for a free Xperia U handset start at £23 / month for the dual-core 1GHz, 3.5-inch smartphone, with the upfront cost rising to £69 if you want the cheapest (£18 / month) contract.
The Xperia U may look like a smaller version of the excellent Xperia S, but it does only come with Android Gingerbread (2.3) installed, rather than the more desirable Ice Cream Sandwich (4.0).
Still, given the PAYG cost of the phone is just £169.99, and the relatively cheap contract bills, expect to see this model frequently on your daily commute.
