Slimline Samsung Galaxy S III will debut in May
Korean tech site ET Tech has reported that Samsung's Galaxy S III premium handset will be launched at a special event sometime in May.
Though some hoped the new device would make an appearance at this month's Mobile World Congress, many will just be delighted to hear it will be the slimmest Galaxy S handset to date whenever it arrives.
ET Tech reiterated the rumour that Sammy's forthcoming smartphone would contain a quad-core processor, LTE network support, powerful dual cameras, and run Android Ice Cream Sandwich.
LG to launch two new Ice Cream Sandwich smartphones
One company that definitely will be announcing new handsets at the Mobile World Congress is LG, with both the P800 and P700 expected to feature prominently.
The LG P800 is rumoured to sport a 4.7-inch touchscreen, and pack 16GB of internal storage. A likely successor to the Optimus 2X, the LG P800 will reportedly possess 1080p HD video capabilities, an 8-megapixel rear camera, and a 1.3-megapixel front-facing camera for video calls.
Little is known about the LG P700, however, though reports suggest that it will be a mid-range offering for those hesitant to blow big bucks on pocket tech.
Vodafone rumoured to sell Nokia Lumia 710 for £150
Speaking of spending less, someone tipped off HotUKDeals visitors about a significant bargain alleged to be on its way from Vodafone.
Apparently, the mobile provider will sell Nokia's Lumia 710 for £150 on PAYG, which will significantly undercut the £200 price tag slapped on it by other networks.
Despite being a little bulkier than the Lumia 800, this cheaper model is no slouch: it boasts the same processor as its bigger brother, the latest version of Windows Phone, a 3.7-inch touchscreen, a 5-megapixel camera, and 8GB of internal memory.
If that wasn't enough, the tipster also said that the Nokia Lumia 710 handsets would be sold unlocked, granting customers a rare freedom when it comes to choosing a new pay plan.
Google Drive service to rival Dropbox and iCloud
The Wall Street Journal provided an interesting bit of news regarding Google's plans to enter the cloud storage marketplace this week.
According to the report, Google Drive is the Californian company's answer to remote hosting services like Dropbox and Apple’s iCloud.
Though The Big G's new service is expected to be free for consumers and businesses, anyone seeking to upload vast amounts of data will have to pay a premium for the privilege.
Scheduled to go live in the next few months, Google Drive is expected to be unveiled at Mobile World Conference. We'll keep you posted.
RIM encourages development of Android apps on the PlayBook
It's been a long time coming, but RIM is finally taking measures to entice Android developers to port their products over to BlackBerry App World.
A quote on the firm's developer's blog said that RIM is planning to give one free 16GB PlayBook to any registered BlackBerry App World vendor who submits a repurposed Android app to its store between February 2nd and February 13th.
In order to stand any chance against Apple's App Store and the Android Market, RIM is willing to give anything a try in the hope of attracting more App World submissions.
