Nintendo fans in North America who are eager to log some hands-on time with the upcoming 3DS XL should head to San Diego this weekend for Comic-Con International.

Although online badge pre-registration for the 2012 mega-event has long since passed, Nintendo will showcase the 3DS XL and a host of upcoming 3DS titles at a special Nintendo Gaming Lounge in the San Diego Ballroom at the Marriott Marquis & Marina

This Gaming Lounge - which is directly adjacent to the San Diego Convention Center - is meant to supplement Nintendo’s booth presence at the San Diego Comic-Con, and a convention badge is not required to enter.

In addition to demo models of the 3DS XL, Nintendo will also provide those in the Gaming Lounge with the opportunity to play upcoming 3DS titles like New Super Mario Bros. 2, Luigi's Mansion: Dark Moon, Castlevania: Lords of Shadow - Mirror of Fate, and Kingdom Hearts 3D [Dream Drop Distance].

Already released 3DS hits like the Pocket Gamer Gold Award-winning Mario Kart 7, and the Pocket Gamer Silver Award-winning Kid Icarus: Uprising will also be available to play.

For those attending San Diego Comic-Con, Nintendo will be situated at booth number 5135.
