As we've already shown you how to save tonnes of cash on making a cardboard iPhone dock, a duct tape iPhone case and a mobile solar charger, this Earth-friendly little DIY project seemed like it was worth a mention.

Eco-fashion website Wardrobe Surgeon has published a project for making your own mobile sock and lanyard from, well, an old sock.

The article describes who to cut the sock, re-engineer it and add a button hole for a lanyard.

It shows a couple of different options depending on what kind of socks you have - with a mobile version and what appears to be an iPhone version (and check out the top tip in the last stage - priceless!).
