Game Center comes to second-generation iPod touch, snubs iPhone 3G
|

We’ve known for some time now that Game Center, Apple’s achievement and matchmaking system for online games, wouldn’t be making its way to geriatric iPhone and iPod touch devices.

Apple has now revealed the complete list of compatible devices, giving you a run-down of which Cupertino gadgets can run the service - as long as they’re rocking iOS 4.1.

Strangely enough, while the iPhone 3G is left out in the cold, its similarly powered phone-less companion, the second-generation iPod touch, gets the go ahead. The iPod 2G does sport a very slightly beefier processor.

Sucks for iPhone 3G users, then, who are finding their merely two-year-old device to be deemed old and crappy, even next to its iPod touch equal.

The complete list of devices to run Game Center are: iPod touch second, third, and fourth generation, iPhone 4, and iPhone 3GS.

iPad is still stuck in the land of iOS 3 until November, when it will also receive Game Center.
