Free Pokemon app coming to smartphones in Japan
If you can't beat 'em...
As 3DS struggles for sales in the wake of the handheld market's shift towards smartphones, probably the last thing you'd expect to see is a Nintendo-related app hitting the market on Android and iOS.
Yet that's exactly what's happening this summer, with Pokemon Say Tap?, a free rhythm-action that has you tapping on trading cards in time to the theme from the Pokemon anime.
In truth, it shouldn't come as too much of a surprise, given that it's being developed by The Pokemon Company, a separate entity to Nintendo, even if it is an affiliate of the Kyoto giant.
No word on whether this will cross the pond and be available to western gamers, but as a simple, free music-based title, it shouldn't require much localisation, even if the tune for the translated anime is different from its Japanese inspiration.Kotaku
